Academy Registration

How do I register for the Academy?

  • All registrations will be completed on the TFS site.  The 2025 Palo Duro Wildfire Academy course list may be found here and instructions for registration may be found here.

General Information

When do my classes start and what are the timings?

  • The 2025 Palo Duro Wildfire Academy begins Sunday, November 1 and concludes Friday, November 7.  Classes run from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM daily. Attendance is required on all days to receive a certification.

What are the check-in procedures?

  • You must check in prior to attending your first class to be included on the class roster. Check-in is available from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day.

Accommodation and Meals

What are the lodging and meal arrangements?

  • Lodging is available in bunk style rooms. Breakfast and lunch are included in your registration. Breakfast is served from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, and lunch from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Conference Center.​

What should I bring if I stay at the camp?

  • Please bring your own sleeping bag, toiletries, and any personal items you may need during your stay.

Class Preparation

Is there any pre-course work required?

  • Yes, if your class requires pre-course work, please ensure you bring all completed materials with you to class.

​​What should I bring to class each day?

  • Please bring your Incident Response Pocket Guide (IRPG) to all classes.

Gear and Equipment

What personal protective equipment (PPE) is required?

  • If enrolled in a course requiring PPE, you must bring:​

  • Nomex shirt and pants

  • Hardhat with chinstrap

  • Eye protection

  • Ear protection

  • Leather gloves

  • Leather boots with good ankle support (not necessarily steel-toed)

  • Fire pack with fire shelter

Can I obtain gear from my home unit?

  • Yes, your home unit should be able to supply most of the gear listed.

Cancellation Policy

What is the cancellation policy?

  • To receive a 100% refund, you must cancel by October 11, 2025. Please email your cancellation request to palodurowildfireacademy@gmail.com, including your name and department.
